He Twists, Turns and Jumps Over Kids

It's a bird. It's a plane. It's... Jeff Lenosky? Not quite bird and not quite plane, Jeff Lenosky is a bicycle stunt-rider who spends a good deal of his riding time off the ground. In fact, he is a world-class professional free rider and trail mountain biker who competes and performs demonstrations of his riding prowess internationally.

He did just that recently at Outdoor Sports Center in Wilton. To the awe and delight of ice cream-smudged faces (mostly on the children in attendance), Jeff enthralled the crowd gathered into the back parking lot of the rambling sports outfitting facility, when he performed two separate shows on a recent sunny Saturday.

Outdoor Sports general manager Scott Maxwell was "psyched" about Jeff's appearance, his fifth in as many years. "Jeff's an incredible rider and athlete," he says. "And we love hosting this event. It's  like throwing a big neighborhood party and it promotes the sport of cycling," a sport Jeff clearly has taken to a higher level, if you will.

He demonstrated his record-holding feat, the "bunny hop," a trick that involves jumping a bike vertically from a dead stop over an obstacle. Think it's easy? Think again. It's kind of like heaving your old Schwinn (while sitting on it) over a castle wall without getting a running start. Granted Jeff doesn't ride an old Schwinn and a six-foot tall person is no castle wall, but you get the idea. Do we have to remind you to not try it at home?
