GM Issues Cadillac CTS Recall

General Motors has issued a voluntary recall of certain 2012 Cadillac CTS vehicles for a potential brake issue.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) site lists the number of affected vehicles at 674, built from Oct. 21, 2011 through October 26, 2011.

The affected issue is the power vacuum brake boost pushrod retention nut, which, GM says, might not “have the proper torque according to specification.” In this scenario, the nut could loosen and allow the pushrod to separate from the brake pedal, which could result in brake failure.

Owners of 2012 Cadillac CTS vehicles can contact Cadillac at (800) 458-8006. Reference the GM safety recall campaign number 11318. They can also contact NHTSA’s Vehicle Safety Hotline, at (888) 327-4236 or, go to http://www.safercar.gov and reference NHTSA campaign ID No. 11V536000.
