Find the Best Bubbles For Your Bash

Do you know how to pick the perfect bottle of bubbly for your New Year’s Eve celebration? Kim Leonard of Stew Leonard’s Wines, has some sparkling words of wisdom for the would-be reveler.

“It all depends on what you’re looking for,” says Kim. “Champagnes, Proseccos, Cavas and sparkling wines can vary widely in price, so it depends on how you’ll be drinking it.”

For instance, if you’re making champagne cocktails like a Kir Royale, what should you use?

“I always tell people, ‘don’t spend if you blend,’” says Kim.  So, if you’re mixing your bubbles with anything, you can get away with a very inexpensive bottle of Prosecco or sparkling wine. For $15.00, you can find a great bottle to blend. The same holds true for mimosas at your New Year’s Day brunch.”

But what if you’re in the market for the real deal?

“Champagne can only be called champagne if it comes from the Champagne region of France,” explains Kim. “But even within that limited scope, you’ll still find price and taste variations. I mean, take Veuve Cliquot. That’s a blend with huge name recognition and it usually sells at a moderate price point. But one of my favorites is the Billecart Salmon. It’s absolutely delicious. And it’s usually moderately priced as well.”

Whatever your celebration calls for, Kim Leonard can help you find the perfect bottle of bubbles.

“Dry, fruity, sweet, yeasty—we have something for everyone,” says Kim. “And I never want anyone to feel intimidated. Just ask. We’re happy to help.”
