Fairfield County Restaurants Help Celebrate Mom

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. - Few things make mom happier than leaving the cooking and cleaning up to someone else for the day. Why not give mom the gift of a delicious meal she doesn’t have to cook?

Here is a roundup of some of Fairfield County’s best spots to celebrate mom. Some are local classics, others are just off the beaten path. Which spot best suits the most wonderful woman in your world?

Blue Lemon - This Westport restaurant serves an inspired New American menu by Chef Brian Malcarney. And Sunday, May13, in addition to Blue Lemon’s signature brunch menu, Malcarney is cooking up some extra special treats, just for mom. Blue Lemon is located at 15 Myrtle Avenue in Westport.  (203) 226-2647.

Wave Hill Breads Bakery & Café – Chefs Mike Devlin and Matt Kirshner have created a menu just for Mother’s Day. Most ingredients are locally-sourced and wonderfully prepared. Crab bisque, farmers’ market quiche and an heirloom rice and been salad with spring vegetables and feta are just a few of the dishes on this multi-course menu, which mom can enjoy inside while taking in work by local artists, or al fresco at one of the tables out front. Sugar & Olives - This Norwalk café and green-eating destination is pulling out all the stops to help you celebrate mom. The prix fixe menu includes angel food French toast sticks, duck egg with sweet potato and herb hash, egg white frittatas, prosecco or a bloody Mary, and even something for dad called “the lumberjack special.” S&O will also offer prosecco or a bloody Mary, and a complementary bouquet for tables of four. Chez Jean-Louis - Mom will know you really (really, really!) love her when you book a table at this award-winning Greenwich restaurant. Winner of the James Beard Best Chef in the Northeast award, Chef Jean-Louis has overlooked nothing this Mother’s Day. The three course brunch menu offerings include smoked salmon quiche, omelets, lobster morsels and ravioles de Royan in lobster sauce, braised short ribs and a mini rack of lamb. Elm - Want to impress mom? Take her to New Canaan’s newest gem, Elm. The carefully crafted Mother’s Day brunch menu will be available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and kids are more than welcome. Elm is located at 73 Elm St. in New Canaan. (203) 920-4994.
