Break for Relaxation

Close your eyes and relax. It's good for your health. In fact, relaxation is not only for peace of mind. It's a process that actually decreases wear and tear on mind and body and helps them endure the ongoing challenges of everyday life.

Relaxation comes in many forms, from Yoga and Tai Chi to exercise and meditation. Regardless of the technique, the techniques involve refocusing attention to something calming or relaxing.

According to the Mayo Clinic, relaxation can help reduce stress by:

• Slowing heart rate

• Lowering blood pressure

• Slowing breathing rate

• Increasing blood flow to major muscles

• Reducing muscle tension and chronic pain

• Improving concentration

• Reducing anger and frustration
