Open Up to Oysters

Even oysters start out as babies. Get a glimpse of the tiny creatures at The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk's "Once and Future Oysters of Long Island Sound" weekend, where an oyster nursery is re-created in special tanks, complete with the almost miniscule algae baby oysters eat.  Also on display will be an assortment of pearls made by more mature oysters and "The Hope," the last wind-powered oyster sloop built for use on Long Island Sound (docked outside the IMAX Theater). The first 200 visitors get a free oyster on the half-shell. June 12 and 13. For more info, call 203-852-0700 or visit the website
