I started my professional life as a research psychologist (not the "do you love your mother" kind). I enjoyed research and teaching, but noticed that I spent most of my non-classroom time writing and editing, often to help other people.

When I left academia,  all the "you should be a writer" admonitions followed me to job interviews. I've been squeezing in part-time writing and editing jobs for about 9 years, so now I am happily doing it full time.

She was the daughter of Nellie and Roderick Tourville.  She is survived by her two brothers, Donald and Ronald Tourville, and one sister, Colleen Shay. She also is survived by many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her sister Winifred and brother Carl. Tourville was retired from Rockland State Hospital in Orangeburg after many years as a dental assistant. Visitation and funeral service will be Tuesday at the George M. John Bachleda, 94, Of Nanuet NANUET, N.Y. -- John Bachleda, 94, of Nanuet, 94, died Saturday, Nov. 14 at home. Bachelda was a Nanuet resident for 62 years. He was born in Zdiar Czechoslovakia to Anton and Maria (Oleksakova) Bachleda. Bachleda worked in food services as a supervisor and manager for American Cyanamid in Pearl River. He was with the company for 31 years before retiring in 1986. The cafeteria, JB’s, was named after him. Bachleda served in the U.S. Army from 1942-45, attaining the rank of master sergeant and earning multiple Bronze Stars. He also served in the National Guard for 18 years, retiring in 1966.…

Westlake Middle School Raises $300 With 'Trunk Or Treat' THORNWOOD, N.Y. – The Westlake Middle School Student Council held its first "Trunk or Treat" on Oct. 30 as a fundraiser for school events. Approximately 25 people decorated their car trunks for trunk-or-treating students. The student council awarded prizes for best car, most original costume, scariest costume and best costume.
