Garret J. Dykhouse, 90, Of Wyckoff
WYCKOFF, N.J. -- Garret J. Dykhouse, of Wyckoff, died Nov. 2. He was 90.
The son of the late Henry and Anna Dykhouse, he was born Aug. 24, 1926, in Midland Park.
A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he spent his entire career as an underwriter and executive for Royal Insurance Company in New York before retiring in 1988.
Dykhouse was a dedicated volunteer in numerous national and community organizations, including service as a board member and chairman of the Christian Health Care Center and Christian Health Care Center Foundation in Wyckoff, a board member of the Eastern Christian Scho…

Vincent P. McHenry, 78, Of Hackensack
HACKENSACK, N.J. -- Vincent P. McHenry, of Hackensack, died Monday, Nov. 1. He was 78.
Prior to retiring, he was a typesetter for the New York Time for many years, he was a member and on the board of the New York Times Credit Union, chairman of its Chapel Union, member of its baseball team, a member of the Dinner Club Union City, a member of the Trotters Club of the Meadowlands and a parishioner of Queen of Peace Church in Maywood.
He was predeceased by Maria H. (nee Gudmundsson) and the late Rosemary Burns McHenry mother of the three children.

BERGENFIELD, N.J. -- Christine M. Homayounifar, of Bergenfield, died Nov. 2. She was 53.
She was born Feb. 17, 1963.
She was a strong advocate and volunteer for the MS Society. She worked tirelessly to address the needs of people with disabilities in the community as an officer of the Bergenfield Barrier Free Committee.
She is survived by her husband, Masoud; daughter, Tina; parents, Timothy and RoseMarie Downing; brothers, Tim, Mike and Dan.

MIDLAND PARK -- Mildred Barlics, of Midland Park, died Nov. 1. She was 92.
She was born in 1924 and lived a wholesome Christian life, full of joy and love. She taught us the value of truth and unconditional love.
She is survived by her husband, Bill; children, Nancy Palangio and William Barlics; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and sister, Bernice Battersby.

OAKLAND, N.J. -- Paul Edward Sumner, 92, of Oakland, died Sunday, Oct. 30. He was born Aug. 4, 1924, in Guthrie Center, Iowa, the son of Edward and Enid Sumner. He grew up in Iowa and attended local schools.
In 1941, after the attack on Pearl Harbor, Sumner, who was not old enough to enter the military, decided to help his country by enrolling in school to become an airplane mechanic. He was drafted in 1943, placed in the U.S. Army Air Corps and sent for training at Kearns Field in Utah. WEST HAVERSTRAW, N.Y. -- Michael M. Palkovic Jr., 81, of West Haverstraw, died Tuesday, Nov. 1. He was born Aug. 26, 1935, in Nyack, the son of Theresa and Michael Palkovic Sr. of Piermont.
After graduation from Tappan Zee High School, he served in the U.S. Air Force for four years. He worked as a steel rule diemaker for Federal Paper Board in Piermont for 32 years until they closed.
