NORTH ARLINGTON, N.J. -- Celerino P. Orpilla Sr., of North Arlington, died Nov. 5. He was 69.
He was born Feb. 3, 1947, in Sinait, Province of Ilocos Sur, Philippines; he has lived in North Arlington since 1990. He worked as a chemical engineer for Block Drug in Jersey City for many years before retiring seven years ago.

Phyllis Horvath, 85, Of Garfield
GARFIELD, N.J. -- Phyllis Horvath, of Garfield, died Nov. 4. She was 85.
She worked as a supervisor for the Bergen County Superintendent of Elections in Hackensack since 1980. She also was a member of the Garfield Jaycees, a parishioner of Mt. Virgin Church and a member of the Rosary Society.
She is survived by her children, Edward and wife Linda, William and Kenneth; siblings, Dominick Sassano, John Sassano and Margaret Walsh; and four grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Danny and Frank Sassano.

Frederick Boehmer, 95, Of Yorktown Heights
YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Frederick R. Boehmer, a longtime resident of Yorktown Heights, died Oct. 28, 2016.
He was born Dec. 8, 1920. He graduated from Yorktown High School and was in the U.S. Army from 1940-45, where he served in the 85th Fighter Squadron 79th Fighter Group.
In 1942, he married Marion Jarvis. Once out of the Army, he went to work as an iron worker.
He is survived by three children, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife and a daughter.

Ethel Morrison, 92, Formerly Of Wyckoff
WYCKOFF, N.J. -- Ethel Morrison, formerly of Wyckoff, died Thursday, Nov. 3. She was 92.
She was born in Hillsdale and lived in Teaneck and Wyckoff for many years before moving to Vermont in 2006.
Although her primary role was as wife and mother, she occasionally worked outside the home and her last job before retiring was as a medical secretary at an ophthalmology office in Ridgewood.
She was predeceased by her husband, Charles; three sisters, Virginia, Joan and Marion; and a brother, Charles.

RHINEBECK, N.Y. -- Christopher Mark Griffin, of Rhinebeck, died Thursday, Nov. 3. He was 60.
He was born Dec. 22, 1955, in Rhinebeck, the son of Vincent and Marjorie (Hefferman) Griffin. He graduated with honors in 1974 from Red Hook High School. He went on to earn his bachelor's degree from SUNY Oswego in 1978 with a double major in computer science and German.
