The incident took place in New Haven on Friday, March 31 on I-91 around 8:30 p.m. between Exits 1 and 2. According to state police, troopers attempted to stop a wrong-way driver that was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes on I-91 between exits 2-1. Jorge Ruiz, age 46, was arrested on Thursday, Feb. 16 for multiple armed robberies that occurred in Bridgeport. He was also wanted for armed robberies in Stratford and Naugatuck. Lonnie Joyner, of Waterbury, was sentenced on Wednesday, May 4, to 10 years in prison followed by three years of supervised release, according to Leonard Boyle, United States attorney for the District of Connecticut.
