Ex-Police Chief In Region Charged With Embezzling Town Funds
The former police chief in Franklin County has been charged with stealing money and equipment set aside for his department, authorities said. Daniel J. Galvis, the former police chief for the Leyden Police Department, was indicted on two counts of larceny of a motor vehicle, 2 counts of larceny over $1,200, and 3 counts of violating the standards of conduct for public employees, the Northwestern District Attorney said. Police Officer Shoots Person During Disturbance At CT Home
An investigation is underway after a police officer shot a person during a disturbance at a Connecticut home. The incident occurred in New London County around 6:20 p.m., Thursday, April 18, on Norwich Avenue in Colchester. Connecticut State Police said preliminary information indicates that investigators contacted an individual shortly after arriving at the home. An active, "complex" investigation is underway for an officer-involved shooting, officials say. A Connecticut state trooper assigned to assist in a court-ordered eviction of a tenant, who lived in the small Windham County town of Brooklyn, shot and injured the tenant on Tuesday, May 9 at approximately 9:35 a.m., according to the Connecticut State Police.
