Blumie Victory Cheers Dems

As news reports began calling Richard Blumenthal the winner over Linda McMahon in the U.S. Senate race, the small room inside Greenwich Democratic Town Committee headquarters erupted in cheers and congratulatory applause. Moments before, GDTC members like Eric Aaron, a sophomore at Greenwich High School, feverishly made last-minute phone calls to Bridgeport residents reminding them to go back out and vote after official ballots had run out in some places.

"We have people making calls to Bridgeport and doing everything they can do to help," said Aaron. "It has been a great day and we have a lot of hardworking volunteers."

Frank Farricker, DTC Chairman said, "We have done great things that will not be forgotten in this town for a long time. [Democrats] have a lot to be proud of."

Lucas Siegmund, a senior at GHS, said that although Republicans won locally he was proud of the Democratic candidates and the volunteers on the campaign. Despite their losses, Greenwich Democrats felt inspired and motivated for the next election.
