Stamford Firefighters Extinguish Blaze In Home In Cove Neighborhood STAMFORD, Conn. — Stamford firefighters were able to contain damage from a fire mostly to the rear of a home on Webb Avenue on Sunday afternoon, but a family of three people was displaced, the Stamford Fire Department reported on Twitter. Stamford firefighters set up a rapid and coordinated attack on the blaze, which broke out shortly before noon in the house at 118 Webb Ave. in the Cove neighborhood.  A heavy fire was reported in the rear of the 2 1/2-story dwelling. A total of 26 firefighters responded and quickly brought the flames under control, the Stamford Fire Department said.  The f…

Bethel Volunteer Fire Department Welcomes New Engine BETHEL, Conn. -- The Bethel Volunteer Fire Department recently celebrated as they welcomed their new fire truck: Engine 5, known as the 2015 Sutphen.  The new 2015 Sutphen Engine 5 fire truck has many unique features, including seating for four firefighters along with a driver/operator. For the pump system, it has the capacity of 1,500 gallons per minute. The tank also holds 1,000 gallons of water, with 50 gallons of foam.
