Wrong-Way Driver Causes Bridgeport Crash, Multiple Injuries Reported Multiple people were injured when a driver drove in the wrong direction on Route 8 in Fairfield County causing a five-vehicle pileup.  The crash took place in Bridgeport just north of Exit 3 around 6:30 p.m., Sunday, July 9 on Route 8, according to the Connecticut State Police. State Police said four vehicles were traveling on Route 8 South, north of Exit 3 when a 2004 Nissan Murano SL/SE, traveling in the wrong direction, sideswiped a 2006 Volkswagen, which then caused the Nissan to lose control and sideswipe a 2017 Nissan Altima.
