DARIEN, Conn. — It could have been a lot worse: The cab of a tanker truck caught fire on Wednesday afternoon on I-95 south in Darien, but firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze before the gasoline it was hauling could catch fire, the Darien Times said.
The Darien Fire Department was the first to arrive on the scene of the fire near Exit 13 at about 12:55 p.m., followed by the Norwalk Fire Department, the Times reported.
The fire was put out within eight minutes, averting a possible explosion, the Darien Times said.
The fire initially closed all lanes of traffic, then two lanes were reopened. All lanes of I-95 had reopened by about 3 p.m. No injuries were reported.
The Norwalk Police Department posted a Periscope of the fire.
