During Wood’s adventure, she said she was able to gain an in-depth and personal look at how local police departments operate, and gain a better understanding of the pressures facing officers on a daily basis.

Recent news events involving police across the country have put an intense spotlight on the role of police in the community. By listening and talking directly with local police, Wood said she will be able to work more effectively on their behalf from a legislative standpoint.

“This was such an enlightening experience,” said Wood, who represents Darien and Rowayton. “I thank Officer Silva and the entire Darien Police Department for welcoming me last week and sharing their needs and concerns. I am so proud of our brave men and women who honor their badges daily, and know just how much our support means to their efforts.”
