The investigation was continuing into the accident, which state police characterized as an “untimely death,” the Post said.
The accident, which occurred on northbound I-95 between Exits 9 and 10, was reported at 12:47 p.m. Tuesday.
Sheridan was pronounced dead at the scene by members of a Darien emergency services unit at 1 p.m., the Post said.
Two to three lanes of the northbound highway were closed for up to three hours after the fatal accident, the Department of Transportation said.
The accident backed up traffic for over 7 miles on northbound I-95 — back to Exit 3 for Arch Street in Greenwich and up to the accident scene in Darien, DOT said.
The accident scene was cleared at about 3:45 p.m. and all lanes were reopened.
