A 28-year-old Fairfield County man has been charged with narcotics trafficking offenses after thousands of fentanyl pills and other drugs were allegedly found in his home.
Bridgeport resident Jermel Bates, also known as “Mel Kitty” and “Kitty,” was indicted by a grand jury on Thursday, March 28, said Vanessa Roberts Avery, US Attorney for the District of Connecticut.

Woman Charged In Death Of Her 4-Week-Old Granddaughter In Bridgeport
A woman is behind bars after being charged with manslaughter in the death of her 4-week-old granddaughter in Fairfield County.
Eleanor Herman, age 61, of Bridgeport, was charged on Tuesday, Jan. 23 for the Sunday, Feb. 21, 2021, death.
According to Capt. Kevin Gilleran of the Bridgeport Police, officers were called to a Bronx Avenue home for a child not breathing.
The baby was transported to the hospital by her uncle before police arrived, Gilleran said.
Medical staff pronounced the baby dead, he added.

Bridgeport Man Nabbed For Heroin, Crack Sales In Darien, Police Say
A man was charged with the alleged sale of crack and heroin following an investigation into drug sales in Fairfield County.
Bridgeport residence Marc Busanet, age 23, was arrested in Darien on Friday, May 12 following the investigation, said Sgt. Dan Skoumbros, of the Darien Police.
During the month of April, Darien Police became aware of illicit drug sales in the Noroton Heights section of town, and an investigation was initiated.
Darien officers developed information that led to the suspect vehicle that belonged to Busanet, Skoumbros said.

A Connecticut man has been charged in connection with the death in February of a 1-year-old girl who died from an overdose of fentanyl and other drugs.
New London County resident Travis J. Schubel, 38, of Salem was arrested Wednesday, Dec. 28, by Waterford police during a traffic stop, Connecticut State Police said.
The child's mother, Ricki Thomas, age unknown, also of Salem was previously arrested on Thursday, Nov. 3, and is currently being held at the York Correctional Institution on a $2 million bond on a manslaughter charge.
