Tobacco Use Down Among NY Teens, Adults Due To Policy Changes State health officials are crediting new policy changes for a marked decline in tobacco smoking and vaping among adults and teens. Habitual Flag Thief Nabbed After Targeting Several Riverhead Businesses, Police Say Police have arrested a man accused of stealing several American flags from businesses on Long Island. The alleged crime spree came to an end Thursday, June 1, when an employee at the Laundry Palace in Riverhead called 911 saying a man had just cut the rope and removed the flags from outside the business. Missing Again: 15-Year-Old Ridge Girl Leaves Home For Second Time In Week Police are asking for help in locating a Long Island teenager who has gone missing for the second time in a week. Shyma Dahoui, age 15, left a relative’s home in Shoreham, located on Vee Jay Drive, at around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 30, according to Suffolk County Police. Child Rapist Who Confessed In Secret Recordings Gets 50 Years, Suffolk County Judge Rules A Long Island man will spend decades in prison for sexually abusing a young girl whose secret audio recordings led to his conviction. Woman Busted Driving Stolen Car While Drunk In Albany, Police Say A 44-year-old woman from the region is facing charges after police allegedly caught her driving a stolen car while intoxicated. Troopers stopped Kelly Golden, of Albany, at around 10:40 p.m. Monday, May 29, for an alleged vehicle and traffic law violation on Washington Avenue in Albany. Stranded Driver In Brunswick Flees From Troopers, Strikes Cop Cars: Police They say no good deed goes unpunished, and that was apparently the case when New York State Police troopers stopped to help a stranded driver in the region. Troopers in Rensselaer County stopped at around 10:20 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, to assist a disabled vehicle in the Town of Brunswick, on State Route 2. Foul Play: Video Shows Adult Baseball Player Attacking Teen Over Ball At Greenlawn Park A New York man is facing assault charges after he was allegedly caught on video attacking a 15-year-old boy over a foul baseball. The incident happened Sunday, May 21, on Long Island, near the Greenlawn Skatepark in Suffolk County.
