A total of 20 percent of all sales will benefit the Darien Arts Center.
Saverine, who refers to himself as a “Sunday artist,” is showcasing his most recent collection of over 30 acrylic paintings, "Sessions by the Sea."
“I‘m happy to help the arts thrive in our community and am flattered to be invited to share my work at Darien Rowayton Bank,” he said.
In addition, Saverine created a $20 table of items in the bank ($10 of each sale to benefit the DAC) that includes a special collection of original miniature paintings, hand-painted paperweight tiles, matted signed prints and autographed copies of his self-published children’s picture book "Jenny’s Pennies—A Nantucket Tradition," which has sold more than 7,000 copies and is now in its fourth printing.
Saverine was born and raised in Darien and has lived in Fairfield County for most of his life. He is thrilled to have a solo show in his hometown and to support the Arts Center along with Darien Rowayton Bank, its corporate partner.
He is currently director of philanthropy at Norwalk-based STAR, Inc., a nonprofit organization serving local people of all ages who have intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).
Saverine was a catalyst in introducing the DAC's Danceabilities and Artabilities programs to those with disabilities at STAR and is thrilled that the relationship continues to grow.
Homegrown support like Peter Saverine’s is invaluable to the Darien Arts Center, which depends on private donations, grants, tuition fees and ticket sales for funding.
“We are so grateful for the local support that we receive from Darien Rowayton Bank and others in the community like Peter Saverine, who help us to afford programming in the arts and events like Darien’s Got Talent and our Bi-Annual Art Show and Sale,“ said Amy Allen, executive director of the DAC.
Now in its 41st year, the DAC continues to offer educational programs in dance, visual arts, music and theatre, and special events and live theatre performances by DAC Stage.
It is located at 2 Renshaw Road, behind the Town Hall. For further information, to sign up for their newsletter, or to donate to the DAC, visit darienarts.org or call 203-655-8683.
