Ever Pleitez-Martinez was arrested on Monday, Feb. 5 following an investigation into two children who were left abandoned at the High Pointe at Rippon Landing Condominiums in the 15600 block of Weathervane Trail in Woodbridge, officials say.

According to a spokesperson from the Prince William County Police Department, officers were called to the complex, where they found a 23-month-old boy in a stairwell unsupervised, whose 3-year-old brother was also alone in their residence sleeping.

Police say that Pleitez-Martinez left his children unattended "for an extended period of time," and when neighbors attempted to bring the toddler home, they found no answer at the door, which was locked, prompting the call to the department for assistance.

Prince William Fire and Rescue personnel were able to gain entry into the home for officers, who then located the 3-year-old asleep and unsupervised.

While investigating the incident, Pleitez-Martinez returned home and it was determined that he was allegedly intoxicated.

The children were assessed by first responders and determined to be unharmed. They were released to friends or family while Pleitez-Martinez was arrested and charged with two counts of felony child neglect and DUI.

Pleitez-Martinez is being held without bond and his next court date is pending.
