Armed Man Shot By MD Troopers Airlifted To DC Hospital A 22-year-old armed man was shot by Maryland State Police troopers after lunging at them with a knife Friday, Aug. 18, authorities said. A four-year veteran of the MSP and a trooper who recently graduated from the MPS academy approached responded to  a home in the 44000 block of West Mervell Court in Hollywood, just before 11 p.m., State Police said. The gunman who killed four people and injured several others was being sought for homicide when he struck a 25-year Maryland State Police veteran Thursday, June 9, authorities said.
