Nicholas Thompson, 33, of Ashburn, was killed after attempting to evade a traffic stop while speeding away from troopers before he ultimately lost control and violently crashed.

Police say that shortly after 1:45 p.m. on Friday, a trooper spotted Thompson cutting through an emergency vehicle crossover on Route 7 in Loudoun County, and when he caught up to him and attempted to stop him, Thompson refused and sped away down Route 7 into Clarke County.

Thompson took his 2020 Suzuki GSX-R 750 into the neighboring county, lost control, went off the road, hit a guardrail before returning to the road and ramming into the state police cruiser.

Thompson was rushed to the Winchester Hospital, where he later died from his injuries, according to officials.

The crash remains under investigation on Monday.
