Feliz Navi-Dog! Missing Child Tracked Down By VA Sheriff's Brand New K-9 Officer On Christmas

Maxa hasn't been on the force for long, but her work is already paying off.

The 1.5-year-old Shorthaired Pointer who joined the ranks of the Amherst County Sheriff in October was hailed a hero on Christmas after tracking down a missing child.

K-9 Maxa and Sgt. Shores responded to a home in Madison Heights for a missing child, after family members had checked he surrounding area with no success.

Once on scene, K-9 Maxa was able to find and track the scent of the juvenile and led deputies to a nearby wooded area where Maxa found the missing child unharmed.
