Woman Surrenders After 36-Hour Standoff; Barricade Linked To Missing MD Woman Case

A driver peacefully surrendered to authorities in Fairfax County around midnight on Thursday, March 30, ending a nearly 36-hour standoff on Richmond Highway.

Police told the NBC4 that the incident was linked to the disappearance of Lauren Kingsbury, 25, of Laurel MD. She had been located safely on Tuesday, shortly before the standoff began.

Video from NBC4 shows the barricade suspect emerging from a black Jeep surrounded by SWAT vehicles.

The Jeep driver, unidentified by police, had been posting about Lauren to her Instagram page, where strangers and loved ones alike were pleading with her to peacefully end the standoff.

Authorities were expected to release details, including charges filed, on Thursday afternoon.
