Mike Gill Dies After DC Carjacking: Reports

A Maryland dad and previous employee for former President Donald Trump's administration died days after being shot in a Washington DC carjacking, FOX5 and NBC report.

Mike Gill, was shot last Monday evening, Jan. 29 by a man later identified as 28-year-old Artell Cunningham, while his car was parked on the 900 block of K Street NW, according to DC police and various news reports.

Artell got inside the vehicle and shot Gill, then got out the vehicle, police said. The suspect fled on foot from the scene and proceeded to go on a carjacking rampage, killing 35-year-old Alberto Vasquez Jr., police said. He was later shot dead by police in New Carllton, MD.

Gill's wife, Kristina, announced his death to FOX 5 reporter Shomari Stone, the outlet reported on Saturday, Feb. 3.

Gill's LinkedIn page shows he is a dad of three and had been working as the senior vice president for Capital Markets at the Housing Policy Council.

He previously was the chief of staff to U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission Chairman Christopher Giancarlo, having served as the COO of the agency during the Trump administration, his LinkedIn page shows. 

Kirk Shaffer, who says he worked with Gill, said he was "one of the good guys."

Services have not yet been finalized for Gill.
