As a low pressure system slowly moves across the country, rain is expected to reach the East Coast by Friday, May 27, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

The system, which will bring scattered showers and thunderstorms, is expected to linger in the area throughout the rest of the weekend.

Most of the area is under a Severe Weather Outlook with concerns for flash flooding, damaging winds and isolated tornados as well.

Friday is looking to be the worst of it with showers starting after 8 a.m. and developing into thunderstorms by the end of the day.

Saturday boasts a little bit of a nicer turnout with the storms tapering off before 8 a.m. and chance of showers lasting until 11 a.m. or so.

Sunday and Monday appear to be in the clear with highs near 82 and 88 respectively.
