A newborn is clinging to life after her mother was killed in a double shooting in DC weeks before she was scheduled to arrive. Community support is pouring in for the family of 22-year-old Samya Gill after the pregnant woman was shot during a midday shooting on Thursday, June 15 in the 300 block of 37th Street SE. A pregnant Maryland woman was able to give birth before dying from injuries sustained in a double shooting in Southeast DC on Thursday. Samya Gill, 22, of Fort Washington, has been identified by Metropolitan Police investigators as the victim who was killed after two men wielding assault rifle-style weapons fired into a parked car. Bank Worker Tackles Gun From Robber In Alexandria: Police
Police in Fairfax County arrested a man who they say robbed an Alexandria bank at gunpoint. Norman Williams, 42, of Fort Washington Maryland, went into the to the Truist Bank at 5922 Richmond Highway in Huntington just after 1 p.m. on May 25, flashed a handgun and demanded money, Fairfax County police said. A bank employee tackled Williams, who dropped the gun and ran from the bank. Williams' gun was recovered at the scene and there were no injuries to the victims, police said.
