Two teens will face serious charges after a shooting that left a 17-year-old dead and another man hospitalized with critical injuries in DC, the Metropolitan Police Department announced.
Marlan Smith, Jr., 16, and Anthony Monroe, 17, both of Northwest DC, are facing a host of felony charges for their alleged roles in the midday murder of Antonio Cunningham last month.
Detectives from the department were called shortly after 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 11 to the 2300 block of Washington Place NE, where there were reports of gunshots ringing out with two people down.

An Alexandria man has been convicted of shooting at a wheelchair-bound “friend” who had to play dead outside an area Walmart to get his assailant to stop his attack, federal officials announced.
Richard Nduba, 39, was found guilty following a three-day trial in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia for firing multiple shots a a man during an argument that rapidly escalated in August 2022 in Northwest DC.
Prosecutors say that on Aug. 10, 2022, Nduba argued with the victim, a friend, outside the Walmart on H Street NW.

Armed Robbery, Armed Assault Land 19-Year-Old In DC Police Custody
A 19-year-old was arrested for an armed robbery and an armed assault, officials said.At around 1 p.m. on August 23, Nathan Borom, along with at least one other suspect, approached a victim in the 200 block of 53rd Street and demanded their property at gunpoint, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
Once the victim complied, the suspects fled the scene, authorities said.
The following day, before 3 p.m., the suspects fired shots from their vehicle in the 3500 block of Minnesota Avenue, police said.
