Crews from the Glasgow Volunteer Fire Department made a unique save earlier this month when a large gun safe as he was unloading some of its contents, according to officials.

The safe weighed an estimated one ton (2,000 pounds) and was reportedly “severely unstable” upon their arrival.

Fire and rescue personnel were able to lift the safe using airbags, and the victim was then airlifted to an area hospital for treatment and evaluation of his injuries.

“This was an unusual call for service and is one that most would never think about having to overcome,” a spokesperson for the agency said. “This shows the dedication of your hardworking (volunteers) who strive to provide a level of readiness, through training and equipment, that our community deserves.”
