"Cyber-flashing" is the practice of sending nude images to a receiver without their explicit consent, and violators come July 1 be fined $500 plus additional legal fees.
The bill, titled SB 493, provides that any person of at least 18 years of age may not transmit explicitly intimate images or content electronically to another person of at least 18 years, without the receiver's explicit consent.
This bill has been backed by the popular dating app Bumble, which conducted a survey, which concluded nearly one out of every two women had received an unsolicited nude image in their lifetime, with nearly one out of every three saying it has happened within the last month, WUSA 9 reports.
