Cesareo Jurado Coca, 50, was critically injured when he attempted to cross the eastbound travel lanes of the 3300 block of Fall Hill Avenue around 5:31 p.m., according to the Fredericksburg Police Department.
The impact left Jurado Coca with life-threatening injuries.
First responders rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
The driver of the vehicle involved stayed on the scene and is cooperating with investigators, police said. There were no signs of impairment, and the driver escaped injury.
Members of the department's traffic reconstruction team were seen working late into the evening as they pieced together the circumstances of the crash.
No charges have been filed as the investigation continues.
