Businessman From Scarsdale Who Made Mark In Real Estate, Autos, Insurance Dies
A Connecticut resident who grew up in Westchester County and worked in insurance, automobiles, and real estate over the course of his career has died at the age of 78.
Fairfield County resident Kurt Hothorn Jr., of Greenwich, died at Greenwich Hospital on Friday, Sept. 23, according to his obituary.
He was born in New York City and raised in Scarsdale, his obituary said.
Hothorn graduated from Concordia Prep, and he went on to study at Valparaiso University in Indiana.
He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, his obituary said.

Beloved Lehigh Valley native, Air Force veteran, friend, and union brother Jacob S. “Jake” Krause died unexpectedly on Friday, May 20 at the age of 28.
Born in Fountain Hill, Jake graduated from Nazareth Area High School with the class of 2012 before moving to Bangor, where he lived at the time of his death, his obituary says.
Jake had spent six years serving with the United States Air Force and had recently started working as a lineman with the IBEW Local #126, according to his memorial.

A United States Air Force veteran from Northport who loved fishing in the Great South Bay Richard J.P. Pordon died Tuesday, May 28 at age 88.
Pordon is being remembered as "hardworking, kind and caring" and a "stalwart steward" of planet earth "and "especially his favorite fishing waters, the Great South Bay." Memorial Planned For West Islip's George Holmes, Capitol Hill Photographer, Painter
A West Islip native who served in the United States Air Force then became a Capitol Hill photographer and Civil War painter will be remembered this week in a memorial service.
George R. Holmes died on Aug. 27, 2018, at age 85 in Alexandria, Va. His service is Friday, June 7 at 11:30 a.m. at Long Island National Cemetery.
He was born on Sept. 13, 1932. After serving his country, Holmes made Washington D.C., his home, where he worked as a photographer on Capitol Hill.

An Air Force veteran and longtime Eastchester detective has died in Westchester at the age of 70.
Bronxville native Timothy P. Morris died on June 11. He served in the Air Force from 1966 to 1970 before joining the Eastchester Police Department on July 1, 1971, through his retirement as a detective on Oct. 8, 1992.
