Recall Of 11.7M Pounds Of Meat, Poultry: List Released Of NY Schools That Received Products
A preliminary list has been released of schools that received items that were part of a nationwide recall of millions of pounds of meat and poultry products over fears they may be contaminated with Listeria.
The initial recall involving the manufacturer, Bruce Pac, was for 9,986,245 pounds of ready-to-eat (RTE) products sold at Walmart, Target, Amazon, Trader Joe's, 7-Eleven, Aldi, and other stores. It was announced on Wednesday, Oct. 9.

A trio in Maryland who helped organize and run an international organized theft ring are facing charges for their roles in a large-scale operation targeting retailers, federal authorities announced.
Sindy Apola Hernandez, 38, Johnsie Steven Reina Hernandez, 20, and Edwin Gonzalez Rodriguez, 30, all of Hyattsville, have been charged for having underlings rob stores, which in turn, they shipped to Honduras and other countries.

Fatal Crash: 21-Year-Old From East Hampton ID'd As Victim In Riverhead
One person was killed in a crash involving a pair of vehicles on a Long Island roadway.
It happened around 8:20 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 6 in Riverhead, near a Target on Old Country Road.
A 2024 Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R, operated by Christian Gutierrez, age 21, of East Hampton, struck another motorcycle, a 2006 Yamaha R6, operated by Rodolfo Castillo, age 54 of Southampton.
Gutierrez had numerous injuries and died at the scene, Riverhead Police said.

Target To Lower Prices On 5,000 Items: Here's Where You Can Expect To See Savings
Target announced that it would lower prices on 5,000 "frequently shopped" items in its stores nationwide, the company said in a press release.
Those items include milk, meat, bread, soda, fresh fruit and vegetables, snacks, yogurt, peanut butter, coffee, diapers, paper towels, pet food, and more, the chain said in a Monday, May 20, news release. The new prices will be rolled out throughout the summer.

Long Island Man Arrested 46 Times, Nabbed For 10 Larcenies
A Long Island man who police say has been arrested 46 times has been charged with 10 new larcenies across the region.
Emmitt Smith, age 43, of Bellport, was charged on Wednesday, April 24, with the larcenies that occurred across Nassau County, according to Nassau County Police.
According to detectives, an investigation was conducted that led to the arrest of Smith for the following larcenies:
