Pedestrian Struck, Seriously Injured On Garden State Parkway
A pedestrian was hospitalized with serious injuries after being struck by a camper on the Garden State Parkway, authorities said. The Ford E350 Camper was heading south when it struck the unidentified pedestrian walking in the roadway at milepost 145.2 in Irvington around 8:05 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, New Jersey State Police Sgt. Charles Marchan said. The pedestrian suffered serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital. The crash remains under investigation, and no additional information is available.

A phone call claiming to protect a Long Island resident's savings ended in a $20,000 scam carried out by a 51-year-old New Jersey man, according to authorities. The victim, a 69-year-old New Hyde Park woman, received the call from Tejas Kapur, of Carteret, who falsely identified himself as a Walmart employee, according to Nassau County Police. Firefighters were called to Ridgewood on Friday evening, Sept. 13 where a black Toyota Prius crashed through a chain link fence, over a retaining wall, and into the back of a restaurant, according to incident reporter Boyd A. A Haledon police officer is recovering after an accidental shooting during a rifle course at the Passaic County shooting range this week, authorities said.
