The FBI is investigating after an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent fired gunshots after being struck by a vehicle on Monday morning, June 15, federal officials confirmed.
At 9:30 a.m., ICE was trying to make an arrest on Route 72 near Mermaid Drive in Manahawkin when the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle, striking the agent, Stafford police said. The agent fired his weapon at the vehicle, repeatedly striking it, police said.
