Jury Recommends Sentence For Mom Who Killed Kids In VA
The mother who killed her two children in Virginia is expected to face decades in prison after being convicted of multiple felonies last week, Fairfax County State’s Attorney Steve Descano announced on Monday, March 27.
Veronica Youngblood, 37, was sentenced to up to 78 years in prison by a jury for killer her two daughters in 2019, according to officials, after she was convicted of multiple counts of first-degree murder and weapons charges.
On Aug. 5, 2018, prosecutors said that Youngblood shot her daughters Sharon Castro, 15, and Brooklyn Youngblood, 5, in their McLean apartment.

A 20-year-old man was arrested after shooting the ex-boyfriend of the mother of his child during a custody exchange outside of a Montgomery County Family Dollar over the weekend, authorities said.
Ali Ortiz, of Upper Pottsgrove Township, went inside of the Farmington Avenue store around 6:50 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, police said in a release. When he came out, he found 21-year-old Sabri Noel, of Philadelphia, arguing with the mother of his child, police said.

Two Connecticut residents are in custody after a 4-year-old boy who was the focus of an Amber Alert was found safe.
Armel Muhammad, of Middletown, was reported missing around 3:20 p.m., Tuesday, June 1 in Middletown.
The pre-schooler was last seen on Monday, May 31 in New Britain, where he had been left in the care of his uncle, Mario Jenkins, said the Middletown Police.

A 3-year-old girl is dead after being found inside a burning car hours after being taken by her father from a Valley Stream home.
The child, Zoey Pereira, was located around 9 p.m. Sunday, May 5, when New York City Police officers responded to a 911 call for a burning vehicle at 154th Street and Baisley Boulevard, said the New York City Police Detective Annette Shelton.
