Observant Newspaper Carrier Saved Reader's Life In Berks County, Officials Say The sharp eye and quick thinking of a newspaper carrier in Wyomissing saved one reader's life last month, according to borough authorities.  Reading Eagle carrier Lee Heckrote was on his route on Dec. 8 and noticed that one customer had a backlog of uncollected letters and newspapers, said Wyomissing police.  After looking inside and seeing that the TV was on, Heckrote called in a welfare check. Berks Thieves Caught On Camera Stealing 'Thousands' In Smart Watches: PD Two men strolled into the Wyomissing Best Buy over the weekend and walked out with thousands in stolen merchandise, according to borough police.  Authorities said the men arrived at the 1701 Crossing Drive store around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 10, and left with an undisclosed number of Samsung smart watches.  Anyone who can identify them is asked to call Wyomissing Police Department's Officer Rubiel Estevez at 610-375-6102 or submit an anonymous tip through Crimewatch.

On Sunday, Feb. 27, a man and woman entered the Your Pet Experts store in the Berkshire Mall, seemingly looking for the area where customers could pet dogs, Wyomissing police said. When the employees walked away, the man quickly grabbed a Cairn Terrier puppy and hid it in his jacket while the woman stood guard, police said. They both immediately left the store. Man Agrees To Sex With Officer Posing As Girl, 15, In Undercover Berks Sting, Police Say A 40-year-old man who agreed to having sex with an officer posing as a juvenile was arrested in an undercover sting, authorities in Berks County said. Gerardo Lopez responded to an ad placed on sex websites and agreed to meet the 15-year-old girl -- who was actually an undercover detectives -- at a motel for sex, Wyomissing police said. Lopez was arrested July 16, and transported to Central Booking.  He was later transferred to Berks County Prison. Charges were filed with District Court.

Reading Man Busted At Motel In Undercover Berks Prostitution Sting, Police Say A Reading man was busted at a motel in what police describe as an undercover prostitution sting running across Berks County. Jeremy Mock, 49, responded to an ad placed on sex websites and agreed to meet at a motel, according to the Wyomissing Police Department. Mock agreed to have sex in exchange for money with an undercover officer posing as a prostitute, police said. Mock was released at the scene and charged with prostitution through the District Court.

Dylan Noll, 25, drove into a drive-thru lane at the First National Bank on State Hill Road in Wyomissing when he noticed a car in front of him exiting through a second lane, according to the Wyomissing Police Department.
