Zahir Haynes, of Hatfield, tried to flee the scene of the crash on Bethlehem Pike and Knapp Road around 6:20 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, the outlet says. His passenger suffered a head injury.

Officers found marijuana in Haynes' bag and learned he had an expired and suspended license, as well as a license plate from another vehicle on his Pontiac, according to the outlet.

Haynes has been charged with DUI, accidents involving death or injury while not licensed, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and other traffic summonses, records show.

Haynes' bail was set at $1,500. His preliminary hearing has been scheduled for July 26, according to court records.
