A hospital safety website has released its gradings for 2023, and some Pennsylvania hospitals rank among the most safe — and least safe — in the nation, according to The Leapfrog Group.
Researchers say they selected 22 evidence-based measures of patient safety to come up with grades for the nearly 3,000 hospitals and acute care centers across the United States, with more methodological information available on their website.

Pair Charged In New Year's Eve Shooting That Killed 1, Injured Another At DelCo Wawa
A pair of men have been charged in a New Year's Eve shooting that killed an 18-year-old man and injured another at a Delaware County Wawa, authorities said.
Jahmier Council, 22, of Chester, PA, and Zymear Jones, 22, of Wilmington, DE, were charged with criminal homicide, murder of the first, second, and third degrees, conspiracy, robbery, and aggravated assault, the Delaware County District Attorney's Office announced Wednesday.
Members of the U.S. Marshals Service arrested Jones on Tuesday in Delaware, while Council remains at large.

Four Hospitalized In Weekend Chester Shootings
Two separate shootings in Chester on Sunday left four people hospitalized, including a 14-year-old boy, authorities in Delaware County said.
Officers responded to a business on 10th and Upland Streets around 6:10 p.m., where they discovered a 14-year-old boy shot in the head, according to the City of Chester Police Department.
While rendering aid to the boy, additional officers found a second gunshot victim, police said.
The second victim, identified as 24-year-old Diondre Jones, was shot in the shoulder, police said.

Upland Police: Good Samaritans Aid Crying Child, 4, In Car After Dad ODs Driving
A Chester dad was charged with child endangerment after overdosing behind the wheel -- his 4-year-old child in the car, police said.
Upland officers found the crying child in the company of two strangers, who were standing outside of a vehicle on Upland Avenue in 30-degree weather around 1:20 p.m. March 2, authorities said.
The child's dad, Aaron Michael Powers, 25, of Chester, was found in the car suffering an overdose, police said.
Powers was transported to Crozer-Chester Medical Center for treatment and the child was turned over to family members.
