Evacuation Ends After Gas Leak In Swatara Twp: Authorities (Update) An evacuation is over after a gas leak in Swatara Township, authorities told Daily Voice.  People in the homes within a 300-foot radius of the 500 block of Highland Street had been evacuated due to the leak, emergency dispatchers told Daily Voice.  A gas line was struck by a construction crew in the area shortly after 11 a.m., dispatchers said.  No one was transported, according to emergency dispatchers.  The power was turned off and UGI temporarily cut off the gas service to the area as they worked to contain the issue, a company spokesperson told Daily Voice at the t…

Burning Pile Of Trash Found At Target In Central PA A burning pile of trash was dumped from a trash truck at the Target parking lot in Swatara Township on Monday, April 3, 2023.  Swatara 91 was called to the reported trash truck fire at 4600 High Pointe Commons at 4:39 a.m., according to the department.  Responding crews found the truck had dumped the load after it ignited inside of the truck. "Units arrived with a pile of trash on fire in the lot and extinguished with no extension to the vehicle," the department said.  No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire was not released.
