Convicted Felon Puts Corrections Officer In Choke Hold At Central PA Prison, Police Say A 30-year-old convicted felon — in his third prison in six months — is facing new charges after putting a corrections officer in a chokehold, the police announced on Tuesday, April 2.  Justin Miles Bookwalter of Huntingdon is accused of placing "the Corrections Officer in a headlock, while in the headlock the Corrections Officer was unable to breathe," the Middlesex Township police stated in the release.  This incident happened at Cumberland County Prison on March 27, 2024.  This is Bookwalter's third county prison stay since Oct. 31, 2023. NWS Extends Flood Watch, Wind Advisories In These Pennsylvania Counties As heavy rain moves out of Pennsylvania, the National Weather Service has extended flood watches and wind advisories for several Pennsylvania counties. What began on Tuesday is expected to continue, this means high wind speeds are expected to blow at 20 to 25 mph in the advisory zones. The stronger wind gusts could blow down tree limbs and some power lines. 2nd Deadly Crash In PA Turnpike's Longest Tunnel In 2023: Authorities A second deadly crash of 2023 has happened inside the Tuscarora Tunnel, authorities say.  The latest crash happened at the border of Huntingdon and Franklin counties at mile marker 187.4 west at 2:10 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1, 2023.  Multiple tractor-trailers were involved in the crash and one person died at the scene, according to the Turnpike Commission and the Franklin County coroner's office.  Details about the victim were not released.  Detours were set up by Exit 161/Breezewood for just over three hours during the investigation and clean up. Pennsylvania HS Senior Wins National Taco Bell Scholarship For $25K A high school senior and Taco Bell employee in Cumberland County won the national Taco Bell scholarship contest, according to the company’s foundation’s website. Emma Seibert, of Enola works at the Taco Bell on Market Place Way and earlier this week she find out that she won the biggest scholarship her employer offers. Her $25,000 scholarship will help cover her tuition at John Hopkins University where she plans to study nursing.
