Village Of Pelham To Lower Maximum Speed Limit Ahead Of New School Year Drivers with a lead foot, beware: a municipality in Westchester will soon be lowering its village-wide speed limit, officials announced.  The village of Pelham announced on Wednesday, Aug. 28 that it would lower the maximum speed limit from 30 miles per hour to 25 miles per hour.  The change will go into effect across the village on Sunday, Sept. 1.  To reflect the change, new signage and increased police enforcement will be put into place, village officials said.

Car Jumps Curb, Hits CVS Location In New Rochelle A vehicle collided with multiple cars and a CVS Pharmacy location in Westchester after its driver hit the gas pedal instead of the brakes, police said.  The crash happened on Wednesday morning, Aug. 28, when an 89-year-old woman tried to park at a CVS locale in New Rochelle at 1296 North Ave. and hit the accelerator pedal, according to New Rochelle Police Captain J. Injured Hiker Rescued From Park In Chappaqua First responders were seen rushing to a park in Northern Westchester to help out an injured hiker stranded in the woods.  The rescue happened on Friday, Aug. 24 around 4:15 p.m., when first responders learned a hiker was injured and stuck in the woods at the back of Gedney Park in Chappaqua, according to the Millwood Fire Department.  Arriving crews brought a backboard and stokes to the hiker's location and safely took them out of the woods.  The hiker was later loaded on an awaiting ambulance, the department added.

Ramp Between Route 9A, Taconic State Parkway In Pleasantville To Close For Hours Traffic will be interrupted on a much-used ramp between a main route and a parkway in Northern Westchester when it closes for several hours, officials announced  The Route 9A southbound ramp to the Taconic State Parkway in Pleasantville will close between Pleasantville Road and Route 117 on Thursday, Aug. 29, according to Mount Pleasant Town Supervisor Carl Fulgenzi.  The ramp will close between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., Fulgenzi added.  Delays are expected. Motorists are asked to plan alternate routes around the closure.
