A 59-year-old inmate died in his cell at a Philadelphia prison Sunday, Jan. 28, in what police say was a homicide. Officers from the 8th District responding to a "hospital case" at the Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility, at 8101 State Road, found the unnamed inmate unconscious with blunt force trauma to the head at approximately 9:15 a.m., city police said. A car crash closed Philadelphia roads being used to reroute traffic due to the Interstate 95 collapse Friday morning, June 16 in Philadelphia. A 21-year-old woman faces criminal conspiracy charges for allegedly aiding the May 7 escape of two inmates from a Philadelphia jail. Escaped Philadelphia Inmates Were Being Held On Homicide, Weapons Offenses
A manhunt was under way Tuesday, May 9 for a pair of inmates who escaped a Philadelphia correction center. Police say Nasir Grant, 24, and Ameen Hurst, 18, escaped the facility on State Road sometime Sunday, May 7. The two apparently cut a hole in a fence in the recreation yard and made their great escape. “Clearly the system screwed up and people didn’t do what they were supposed to do,” said Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney at a news conference Monday evening. Hurst has been tied to homicides dating back to 2020 while Grant was being held on drug and weapons charges since last September.

A person was fatally struck by a SEPTA train in Philadelphia Thursday, May 12, 6abc reports.
