A Berks County man was convicted of wrestling away a police officer's TASER device and then knocking him unconscious, authorities say.
Jacob Aharonian, 23, of Morgantown, was found guilty of aggravated assault and disarming a law enforcement officer following a three-day trial, said District Attorney John T. Adams in a statement Friday, January 27.

Matt Farnan, a beloved husband, stepfather, and officer with the Philadelphia Housing Authority Police Department, died suddenly on Thursday, Jan. 5, his colleagues have announced. He was 36.
A graduate of the Temple Police Academy, Farnan had served the PHAPD for nearly a decade, joining the force in 2013, his fellow officers wrote. During his tenure, they added, Farnan received no less than four merit commendations for heroism in the line of duty.

Beloved Philadelphia police officer and dad of twins Kevin Joseph Regan died suddenly on Saturday, Oct. 8. He was 30.
Born in Meadowbrook, Regan graduated from Abington Senior High School and Temple University, according to his obituary.

A man was fatally shot while bear hunting on Saturday, according to a report by Erie News Now citing the Pennsylvania Game Commission.
The shooting, which was initially called into authorities as a cardiac arrest, happened on Pennsylvania State Game Lands 197 property in Columbus Township, Warren County, just afternoon, according to the outlet.
