Shuttered Berks County Pool Could Be Transformed Into Exactly What Residents Asked For: Report
Some 60 residents in Reading could have their wishes for the East Reading Pool granted. They wanted a parking lot for the pool closed since 2015 and, according to WFMZ, they could be getting just that — complete with 63 spaces. The Reading City Council talked about handing over the East Reading Pool site to the Reading Parking Authority in Monday, Sept. 12 meeting, the outlet says. Reading City Council President Jeffrey S. Waltman Sr. died on Monday, June 13, officials announced. He was 58. A heavy fire that tore through a row home in Reading Thursday claimed the lives of a woman and her young child, authorities said. Firefighters were called to the smoke-filled corner home in the 900 block of Muhlenberg Street just after 9:45 a.m., officials said. Crews rescued multiple people from the home, including 32-year-old Catherine May Dingle and her 9-year-old son, according to Berks and Lehigh County Coroner's Offices. Motorcyclist Charged In Reading Hit-Run Crash That Injured 2 Kids
A motorcyclist has been charged in a hit-and-run crash that left two kids injured in Southeast Reading on Tuesday. Maximo Serrano-Garcia, 75, was riding a white three-wheel motorcycle and traveling West on Perkiomen Ave when he struck an 8- year-old and 14-year-old while they were crossing the street at South 18th Street around 6:45 p.m., City of Reading police said.
