Update: Man In 'Mental Distress' Peacefully Surrenders At Hotel In Lehigh Valley, Police Say 7 p.m. UPDATE: A welfare check turned police standoff ended peacefully in the Lehigh Valley on Thursday, April 28, authorities said. Upper Macungie police and the Lehigh County Municipal Emergency Response Team were called to the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Allentown West on Tilghman Street in Allentown on a report of a man in "mental distress," around 10:40 a.m., they said. The unidentified man who had been barricaded in a room eventually exited peacefully, according to police. No further information was provided.
