Berks Woman Embezzled $51K From School PTO: Troopers
A parent-teacher organization officer in Berks County is accused of embezzling tens of thousands of dollars from the group and using the money to pay bills, state police say. Alison Haines of Shoemakersville is charged with felony theft and access device fraud and surrendered to authorities on Tuesday, Sept. 26, according to troopers. Teen Found With Loaded Gun At PA High School: Police
A high school student in Allentown was found to have a loaded handgun in his possession on Monday morning, Sept. 25, according to city police. The 15-year-old and others were caught smoking in a William Allen High School bathroom when the school resource officer searched their belongings and came across the weapon, APD said. Uber Giving Temple Students $200K In Free Rides
Temple University students can get free rides from Uber this year. The ride-share company is providing $200,000 in free rides to students looking to leave unsafe situations, according to the school's student-run newspaper, Temple News. The Conestoga Valley School District bus was involved in a crash with another vehicle around 7:30 a.m. on Sept. 15, according to the Lititz Fire Company.
