Westmoreland County Detectives and Rostraver Township Police are investigating the shooting of the young boy that happened around 1:45 a.m. on Thursday, July 6, 2023.

The police were called to Gaudio Drive in Rostraver Township after the 4-year-old was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.

The boy was identified Ronnie Lynn by his grandfather Walter in a GoFundMe he launched over the weekend.

Ronnie was airlifted to UPMC Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Ronnie found "his Dad's gun which was secured, then shot himself in his precious head, the bullet was a thru and thru in his skull and brain. He has damage to his brain and his left eye. He is in stable but critical condition," Walter explained.

Ronnie's dad has taken a leave from work to be by his side, according to the grandfather. His mom currently dealing with her own medical battle against stage four breast cancer, Walter said.

Any money raised by the GoFundMe campaign will help cover Ronnie's medical expenses as well as the family bills as his father remains on leave.

Ronnie loves to "help his dad and Pap Pap with any work that needs (to be) done around the house, even going behind him cutting grass with his own little tykes mower to make sure that no spots were missed. He loves to dance around with his family and cook with his Mimi. He would do all kinds of arts and crafts with his sister and play video games with his brother. Ronnie is a very loved little boy," Walter said.

The District Attorney’s office plans to release an update "when appropriate."
