Convicted Felon Arrest As Murder Suspect In Harrisburg Homicide: Police

A 26-year-old convicted felon has been charged and arrested in connection with the homicide of a Huntingdon man in Harrisburg, police announced on Monday, April 21.

Marcus Daivd Stultz of Harrisburg was arrested on Friday, April 19, police explained. This was shortly after fingerprints helped authorities identify Dewayne Brown, 43 of Huntingdon, as the shot Black man officers found when responding to a call of "shots fired with a person struck" in the area of Evergreen and Thompson streets, authorities told Daily Voice. 

Officers found Brown shot dead around 11:45 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17.

On Friday, the Dauphin County Coroner said Brown's cause of death was gunshot wounds to the body and the manner was homicide. 

"The charges stem from Stultz's involvement in the April 17th murder that took place in the area of Evergreen and Thompson Streets, in Harrisburg," police stated in the updated release. 

Stultz was charged with the following according to his latest court docket:

  • Murder.
  • Conspiracy - Murder.
  • Felony Robbery-Inflict Serious Bodily Injury.
  • Felony Conspiracy - Robbery-Inflict Serious Bodily Injury.

He has a lengthy criminal record including felony robbery, felony aggravated assault (two counts from separate cases), felony illegal possession of a firearm, felony burglary, felony manufacture, delivery, or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, felony criminal use of a communication facility, misdemeanor marijuana possession, felony escape, summary harassment, court records show. He was sentenced to serve over seven years in prison although, it appears he served approximately three years. The first conviction was for a 2014 incident, as detailed in the dockets. 

He has been held in the Dauphin County Prison due to state law on murder or homicide charges, and as the night court Magisterial District Judge James A. Lenker, who presided over his preliminary arraignment put it, Stultz is a "threat to society."

His preliminary hearing is set before Magisterial District Judge Mikaela M. Sloan at 10 a.m. on April 29, as stated in his latest court docket. 

"An investigation was immediately initiated and is ongoing at this time," the police said. "The Harrisburg Police are still seeking anyone who has any additional information on this incident," as stated in the updated release.
